Winterhill Hospitality, the official Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup hospitality booking site, has put ‘Occupied Palestinian territories’ as a country option, without mentioning ‘Israel’ on its list.

Many people on social media praised this move. A social media user wrote, "The sales department for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar on the website of the International Football Federation (FIFA) removed the fake word "Israel" from the list of its members and used the word "Occupied Palestinian Territories" instead."

Another user said, "Qatar removed Israel from the World Cup page and replaced it with the occupied Palestinian territories. Long live Qatar and the amir."

Commenting on this, the Jerusalem Post claimed that the website later decided to delete the name ‘occupied Palestinian territories.’

For its part, the Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth said that excluding the name ‘Israel’ and replacing it with ‘Occupied Palestinian territories’ sparked outrage in the Israeli Occupation and among businessmen who entered the site and were surprised by the disappearance of the name ‘Israel.’
